4.2.6 Feature Alert

NX has an alarm function for features. The following text will explain Feature Alerts briefly.

When working with certain features, sometimes so called "Feature Alerts" may be displayed. These appear in form of a small window on the lower right of your screen when working with the respective feature. This window contains an explanation of the error and possibly a hint for solving the issue.
A red "X" alt appears in case of an error, a yellow exclamation mark alt for serious warnings, even though the feature can still be created, or a blue "i" alt in case of information that indicates a possible error.

Normally, Feature Alerts are caused by the geometry. If you fail to observe the alert and still create the feature, a blue i or yellow exclamation mark will be shown next to the feature within Part Navigator.

3 Examples for handling Feature Alerts follow. However Feature Alerts can be related to most features of NX.

Edge blend radius too large:

If you entered a radius that is too large while creating an Edge Blend, it cannot be created by NX. The following Alert will be shown: (refer figure "Alert Edge Blend"). The solution is, as stated within the window, to reduce the radius size.

Chamfer distance too large:

If you entered a distance that is too large for a chamfer, you'll get this alert: (refer figure "Alert chamfer"). This means NX cannot connect the created surface to each other. You should reduce the distance.

Hole diameter too large:

When creating a hole with counterbore, the diameter of the counterbore always has to be larger than the diameter of the actual hole. If you did not meet this requirement, NX will show you the following alert: (refer figure "Alert hole with counterbore"). In this case, change the counterbore diameter.

You should always read and recognize Feature Alerts. In most cases they'll also provide you with methods for solving the issue.
