6.3.4. Center Constraint

This chapter should explain usage of the constraint Center. You can use it to position parts centered between other parts.

Using the Constraint

Open the file bg_uebung_center_constraint of owning user: uebung_bg. It contains a Frame (Kulisse), a cylinder and a block. The cylinder and block should now be positioned in the center of the square cut-outs in the frame using the Center constraint (refer figure "Positioning done").

First, click Assembly Constraints in the Assemblies Tab and Select the constraint Center alt. The function of the constraint can be altered using the subtype Dropdown (refer figure "Center Constraint").

If you want to position the axis of a part in the center between two surfaces, you have to use the Option 1 to 2.

To position the cylinder in the center of a cut-out, select the centerline of the cylinder and then two opposing surfaces of the first cut-out in this order. Repeat this process with the remaining surfaces of the cut-out. The cylinder should now be centered in the cut-out.

To position the block in the last cut-out, the Option 2 to 2 should be used. Select it and then select two opposing rectangular faces of the block and then two opposing faces of the cut-out in this order. Repeat this process for the remaining surfaces.

Now both parts should be centered in the cut-outs. Now you can use further constraints to fully constain both parts. (refer figure "Positioning done")
