6.4 Constraint Navigator
is located on the left-hand side of the screen, directly below the Assembly Navigator. You can use the Constraint Navigator to sort the constraints that you have already set according to certain criteria.
To do this, first click on the left-hand side of the Constraint Navigator. Now click with the RMB in the gray field Name (Group by Constraint Status) (refer figure "Name (Group by Constraint Status)").
Now you have the following options:
- Group by Constraints
- Group by Constraint Status
- Group by Inherited
- Group by Components
- Group by Component Status
- Group by Component Level
Group by Constraints
If you select Group by Constraints, a list of all constraints appears in the constraint navigator. You can sort them alphabetically by clicking with the LMB in the Name (Group by Constraints) field. If you click on the plus sign
to the left of the respective constraint, the corresponding individual parts appear. (Figure "Group by Constraints")
Group by Constraint Status
The constraints are sorted according to their status (error, warning, info, OK). Ideally - after finishing the complete assembly - all constraints should be found in the folder Status=OK. If this is not the case, you can detect faulty constraints that appear in one of the other three folders (Status=Error, Status=Warning, Status=Info) and locate the source of the error. Group by Inherited
Group by Components
A list of all individual parts and subassemblies appears in the constraint navigator. If you click on the plus sign
to the left of an individual part or subassembly, all constraints related to this part or subassembly appear. (Figure "Group by Components")
Group by Component Status
Here you can see if all your parts/subassemblies are fully constrained
. Only your base component is an exception. It should be located in the Status=fixed (1) folder. This function can also be used to identify faulty constraints and locate their sources of error (see Group by Constraint Status). (Figure "Group by Component Status")
Group by Component Level
Here you should find all constraints in the Child Components of Work Part folder.In general, the constraint navigator should help you to find constraints that haven't been set yet, are only partially set, or contain errors. This makes troubleshooting much easier for you.
