9.1.3 Insert Section Views

Since your component has certain internal geometries that are not visible from the outside, a sectional view must be inserted to complete the dimensioning for production. This is done using the Lightweight function, which can be found in the menu bar under Section.

Click Lightweight . The Lightweight Section View window opens.

Under Type you can select the number of layers in which you want to cut. Choose .

Next, the part to be cut must be selected under Objects to Section. To do this, select the entire model and you will receive a preview of the section.

Now set the orientation of the sectional plane under Section Plane. X, Y and Z describe the direction of the normal vectors of the section plane. Select the section plane parallel to the YZ plane.

Under Offset you will find a scale from-3.88 to 3.88. Here you can adjust the depth of the cut. Set the scale to 0 so that the cut runs in the middle of the part, and then click OK.

Your section should correspond to the figure(See figure "Section #1").

If you now take a look at Model View in the Part Navigator (see figure "Model View"), you will see that a new view has been added, the "Lightweight Section #1". You can now switch between the normal views and the section view. By double-clicking on "Lightweight Section #1" the Lightweight Section View opens and you can edit the section.

Now you can apply the remaining dimensions for the inside of the part in the section view. For this purpose, it is more practical to move the component into a two-dimensional view. Open the Lightweight Section View and expand the Display Settings section. With a click on Orient View to Plane , the model rotates into the plane view. If you want to save the view for the future, you can save it to the "Lightweight Section #1" in the Part Navigator via RMT->Save.

Now dimension the component according to the illustration (see figure "Section #1 dimensiones").
