1.3 Naming convention

In order to make file identification possible (especially when turning in a file during an exam phase), it's mandatory to use the following naming convention when choosing the title of your file.

Files, which are NOT named according to this convention, will NOT be evaluated!

  • Special characters/symbols like Ä, Ö, Ü, ß or brackets and exclamation points, etc. should not be used, in order to avoid issues with Teamcenter`s data management.
  • Teamcenter does not show directly if an object is a model, an assembly or a draft, so you should place this information in your file name.
  • Since you have to turn in files during all of the three exam phases, it's important to place your user name (login name for Teamcenter/windows) in your file name.
  • When you're working in a Team (exam phase 2) you should use your team number (teamXXX) instead of your user name (e.g.: team001).
  • Naming files in NX/Teamcenter is not case sensitive. However, you should stay consistent when naming your files.

In order to illustrate these rules, the following examples use the generic user name "meier" to label different files:

Model ("Einzelteil")

Sub-assembly ("Unterbaugruppe") (ubg)

Assembly ("Baugruppe") (bg)

Model draft ("Einzelteilzeichnung") (dwg)

(Sub-)assembly draft ("(Unter-)Baugruppenzeichnung")

Instead of ubg ("Unterbaugruppe" - sub-assembly), you should use bg ("Baugruppe" - assembly), when naming assemblies.

Exploded view Draft ("Explosionszeichnung") (exp)

Instead of ubg ("Unterbaugruppe" - sub-assembly), you should use bg ("Baugruppe" - assembly), when naming exploded assemblies.

This tutorial could instruct you:
Create an assembly named rolle according to this convention.

Then your file should be named:
bg_rolle_meier
