Chapter 3: Basics in NX

During your CAD exercise you will use the 3D-CAD-System NX 11 by Siemens PLM Software. NX11 is a parametric CAD-system for development, construction, product documentation, simulation, and fabrication. It allows direct construction of geometry-based on volumetric modeling.

The 3D-CAD-System Unigraphics was developed in the US in 1974 by United Computing to automate mechanical product development. Since 2013 the software branch of Siemens took over the product completely, which is why the name Unigraphics is not used anymore. NX is mainly used by the automobile and manufacturing industry, space and aviation industry, tooling, casting, medical and polymer industry.
