States and icons of material flow objects

During the simulation every object undergoes different states:

  • Failed,
  • Stopped,
  • Paused,
  • Unplanned,
  • Working,
  • Blocked,
  • Setting-Up,
  • Powering up/down,
  • Recovering, and
  • Waiting.

These states are visualised in form of colored dots along the top of the object’s pictographs in the frame (see figure 1).

States can occur during simulation or be set manually by the user.
  1. Once again look at your simulation. You will perhaps mark the blocked state for your source. In this case this happens as soon as the material units cannot be transported to the next object. This is an automatic state change.
  2. Place another “SingeProc” on the frame and connect the “Source” with the “SingleProc2” and “SingleProce2” with “Drain”. Run your simulation again. Material units are processed either using the “SingleProc” or the “SingleProc2” object.
  3. Now open the “SingleProc2” during an active simulation and mark the “Failed”-Flag as enabled. Press the “OK” button. You will notice that the object stops processing material units. This is a manual state change.
