1 Introduction

Tecnomatix is a digital manufacturing solution of Siemens PLM. Tecnomatix enables collaborative development with multiple, connected users and optimize the entire development of manufacturing processes. Tecnomatix provides a collaborative environment for authoring, simulating, and optimizing manufacturing processes.

Tecnomatix solution consists of different applications. The most important applications are Process Designer, Process Simulate and Plant Simulation. This tutorial only covers Process Designer and Process Simulate. For working with Plant Simulation, please see Plant Simulation Tutorial.

Why Digital Factory?

Digital factory applications support manufacturing and production processes by providing digital models, methods, tools, and an integrated data management. Digital factory is used for the planning of manufacturing and production processes and systems. It enables a continuous support throughout the product life cycle and leads to an increased integration of development and production through early feasibility simulation and allows manufacturing and assembly-oriented development of products and production facilities.
