3.3.3.2 Human Positioning

With the Human Positioning option, you can quickly place the human model in another location. The human model can be positioned either on the floor level or on another object. To position a human model:

  1. Select a human model, either in the Graphic Viewer or from the Object Tree.
  2. Open the Positioning Operation dialog box using one of the following steps:
    • Select Human > Human Postures > Positioning from the menu bar,
    • Click the Positioning button on the toolbar.
  3. In the Positioning Operation dialog box, select the target by clicking an object or a location in the Graphic Viewer and define whether the human model should sit down, stand up or placed on the target.
  4. Click Create Op. to save the position and the posture as a new operation, Reset to return the human model to its original position, and Close to close the Positioning Operation window and adopt the new position without saving the new position as an operation.

Sometimes it might be useful to define a target by defining a frame. By clicking the Frame button , a Location window opens and you can enter the translation value for X-, Y-, and Z-axis, as well as the rotation value for the Rx-, Ry-, and Rz-axis. You can also click on the frame dropdown button to choose how you want to define the new frame. You can define a frame by 6 values, by circle center, by 3 points, and between 2 points, both in Process Simulate and Process Designer.

Man Jog

The Man Jog option enables you to move a selected human segment in any direction within its physical limits. The available segments are Left Hand/Elbow, Right Hand/Elbow, Left Leg, Right Leg and Head. This option is especially useful for evaluating reachability functionality. For example, you can examine whether the human model can grasp a box located on a high shelf. If you select the whole human model, you can move the human model to another location, similar to the Placement Manipulator option for objects.

  1. Select a human model or a specific body part of a human model, either in the Graphic Viewer or from the Object Tree.
  2. Open the Human Body Part Manipulator window using one of the following steps:
    • Select Human > Human Postures > Man Jog from the menu bar,
    • Right-click and select Man Jog from the context menu,
    • Click the Man Jog button on the toolbar.
  3. A Human Body Part Manipulator frame with arcs also appears in the Graphic Viewer.
  4. You can move or rotate the selected human body part along the axes either by selecting the axis and clicking the Move One Step button or by dragging the manipulator frame in the Graphic Viewer (similar to Placement Manipulator).
