3.2.5 Weld Operation

The Weld Operation option in Process Simulate enables you to create and run spot-welding design process and analyze critical factors during the weld task, such as geometric restrictions and object collisions. In order to do a weld operation, you need a robot with a mounted weld gun. You can create a new weld operation using one of the following steps (if the options are not available, select a robot first, either in the Graphic Viewer or from the Object Tree):

  • Select Operations > New Operation > New Weld Operation from the menu bar,
  • Click the New Weld Operation button on the toolbar.

The New Weld Operation dialog box with several fields and options appears. By default, all new weld operations are named Weld_Op#. You can give the operation a different name, if you wish to. The names of the selected robot and the gun mounted on it should be displayed automatically in the Robot and Gun fields. If the gun mounted on the robot is not a valid weld gun, an error message will appear.

This chapter is currently under construction. The weld operation exercise will be included in the next version update of this tutorial.
