3.3.3.1 Walk Creator

The Walk Creator option enables you to create a walk operation, where a human model walks from its current location to a specified location. In the standard setting, the human model walks directly from the start location to a specified location with a straight back and swinging arms. You can define more than one location for a walking operation, thus creating a path, and the human model walks from one location to the next, interpolating the way.

  1. Select a human model, either in the Graphic Viewer or from the Object Tree.
  2. Open the Walk Operation window using one of the following steps:
    • Select Human > Walk Creator from the menu bar,
    • Click the Walk Creator button on the toolbar.
  3. In the Walk Operation window, you can select the target in one of the following ways:
    • In the Select Target field, select the target location by clicking the location in the Graphic Viewer.
    • Alternatively, in the Select Path field, you can choose a pre-defined path or you can create a new path using Path Creator. This is recommended if you do not want the human model to walk straight to the target location or if the human model should walk a defined path.
  4. By clicking the Path Creator button, a Path Creator window opens. Select a location in the Graphic Viewer and click Add to Path button to add the selected location to a path. You can add as many intermediate locations to the path as required.
  5. Define the Step Behaviour in one of the following ways:
    • If you select the Predictive Stepping, the human model interpolates the movement automatically.
    • If you select the Linear Walk, you can manually define the parameter and the manner in which you want the human model to move.
  6. Check the box Avoid Obstacles to prevent the human model walking through and obstacle.
  7. Click Create Op. to create a new human walk operation in the Operation Tree, Reset to return the human model to its original location, and Close to close the Walk Operation window.

After you create the operation, set this operation as current operation or drag and drop it into the Sequence Editor to run the simulation. Click play and review whether the walk operation created is satisfying. If the human model face the wrong way after the walk operation has ended or if you want to change the path location, you can edit the location and its orientation in the Path Editor.
