3.2.3.1 New Object Flow Operation

An object flow operation enables you to move an object from one location to another location. This operation is used primarily to move parts in an assembly for assembly studies. You can create a new object flow operation using one of the following steps (if the options are not available, select an object first, either in the Graphic Viewer or from the Object Tree):

  • Select Operations > New Operation > New Object Flow Operation from the menu bar,
  • Right-click the object and select New Object Flow Operation from the context menu,
  • Click the New Object Flow Operation button on the toolbar.

The New Object Flow Operation dialog box appears with the name of the selected object displayed in the Object field. By default, all new object flow operations are named Op#. You can give the operation a different name if you wish

For this example, select the Box 1 in the Object field and rename the object flow operation to Box1_Op1. In the Scope field click the Part Operation as the parent for the new object flow operation. Create the object flow path by defining the Start Point and the End Point. For example, the start point should be the far end of the Conveyor and the current location should be the end point.

After you created the new object flow operation, the Operation Tree should display the structure shown in the following figure. Right-click the new object flow operation Box1_Op1 or its parent operation Part Operation and set as current operation to display it in the Sequence Editor. Run the simulation by clicking play in the Sequence Editor and see what happens. If Box 1 moves in wrong direction or starts/stops at wrong location, you can adjust the location in the Path Editor using the Manipulate Location option.
